The recent meeting of the NSW Industry Training Advisory Bodies (ITABs) for Forestry & Furnishing was held on Thursday 31 May 2018. The crucial items for discussion were:
- the impact of recent training package work on apprenticeships and traineeships in furnishing trades;
- upcoming reforms to the regulation of both public and private native forestry, and the potential impact that this will have on competencies and training requirements, and;
- the schedule for regional visits to promote Vocational Education and Training (VET) and careers in forestry and furnishing.
The NSW Department of Industry is currently reviewing the Skills List of VET qualifications eligible for a government subsidy under Smart and Skilled.
