ForestWorks currently holds an Industry Training Advisory Body (ITAB) contract in New South Wales, to gather information and advice from industry on training matters and share this with the NSW Government. With strong existing networks in the forest and wood products, pulp and paper and furnishing industries, ForestWorks is well positioned to consult with industry to provide this information.

The ForestWorks NSW ITAB assists the State Government by:

  • identifying industry skills needs, priorities and skills development issues
  • promoting training to industry to assist in the take-up of funded training, including, school-based apprenticeships and traineeships, in collaboration with Government
  • advising the State Government on apprenticeship and traineeship arrangements.

Collection of industry intelligence takes many forms, including:

  • formal consultation such as focus groups, industry sector advisory groups, site visits and web forums
  • conference and industry forum presentations
  • project work with cross industry collaboration and partnerships.

Dr Tim Cleary, Executive Officer

Tim has been in this role since 2015, bringing with him experience in manufacturing, research and development. He has also worked in the Victorian public service as a policy officer and in administering a private RTO. Tim has a Diploma in Forestry from the University of Melbourne, as well as a Bachelor of Engineering (ceramic engineering) from UNSW and a PhD in Material Science from Swinburne University.
