By 2022, Australia’s forestry and wood products industries will be different to today. Whether its technology, scale, supply-chain integration or some other facet of our fast moving industries, we know that the skills of tomorrow will be formed over the next few years.
The 2019-2022 Skills Forecast for the Forestry and Wood Products Industry provides important guidance on the future skills needs of our industries.

The Skills Forecast will be submitted to the Australian Industry and Skills Committee (AISC) jointly by the following Industry reference committees (IRC);

  • Forest Management and Harvesting IRC,
  • Timber and Wood Processing IRC, and
  • Timber Building Solutions IRC.
Skills Forecasts describe industry trends, opportunities and challenges, and identify skills gaps and emerging skills needs. They propose a four year plan for reviewing and developing relevant units, skill sets and qualifications across the training packages.

We’re seeking your feedback on the priority skills for the forestry and timber industries between 2019 and 2022.

They are documented in a draft IRC Skills Forecast and Proposed Schedule of Work (Skills Forecast) document: Read draft Skills Forecast & provide feedback
