Projects Currently Underway – Development Phase

These projects commenced with the establishment of Technical Advisory Committees (TACs) in late August 2018. Following feedback and consultations with the TACs, work has begun on reviewing the Certificate III in Sawdoctoring and Certificate III in Woodmachining including their units of competency. TAC members also supported a series of site visits to identify skills and knowledge needs regarding timber and process optimisation in sawmills.

To view the proposed development activities regarding the two qualifications and new units of competency recommended to date, visit the project webpages above.

Projects Completed – AISC Submission

Both projects have reached their conclusion after all relevant documents were checked for editorial, equity and quality assurance, reviewed by the State/Territory Training Authorities (STAs/TTAs) and signed-off by the Chair of the Timber and Wood Processing & Timber Building Solutions Industry Reference Committees (IRCs).

On 21 November, the final new and updated units of competency, the Case for Endorsement and the Companion Volume Implementation Guide were submitted to the Australian Industry Skills Committee (AISC) for endorsement.

Following endorsement by the AISC, the final new and updated units of competency will be published on www.training.gov.au, which means they will be available for use by registered training organisations (RTOs).
