ForestWorks has been on the move! Michael Walker (our newest colleague) is ForestWorks’ Project Manager for Industry Reference Committees and Stakeholder Engagement. He continues to meet industry, across the regions:

  • Visy

Visy’s Tumut Mill is one of the largest pulp and paper mills in Australia. The Visy team gave ForestWorks a tour of the facility, explaining the process from raw wood, through the kraft pulp millright through to paperboard manufacturing.

Tumut is among the lowest users of water of any similar mill in Australia, producing producing high-quality kraft paper, used to manufacture sustainable, recyclable and renewable packaging materials.

  • Softwoods Working Group

ForestWorks participated in a Softwoods Work Group (SWG) meeting, with a combined group of stakeholders including forest growers, government and haulage operators from around the Tumut region. The SWG are a well organised group, commited to future growth in forestry. swg.org.au

  • NSW Industry Training Advisory Bodies

ForestWorks manages and supports the NSW ITAB meeting, a key source of industry advice for the NSW Government, as well as providing an ongoing reference point for industry. ITABs provide streamlined, unique and timely advice to the Department on the training and skill needs of their NSW industry sectors to facilitate workforce development. training.nsw.gov.au.
