Validation Sought on Final Draft Units of Competency

  • Prefabricated Building Systems Project
  • Cross Laminated Timber and Glulam Manufacturing Project

Final draft units of competency for both projects are now available for your validation until 16 September 2018. These drafts have been updated to reflect the input received during the broad industry consultation stage.

For validation, we are seeking your final check and confirmation whether the final draft units reflect the current industry skills standards, knowledge and practices.

To view and validate the final draft units, please visit the project web page links below.

The feedback received during the broad industry consultation, and how this feedback was considered and applied to update the draft units, can also be downloaded from the links below.

New Projects

  • Advances in Woodmachining and Sawdoctoring
  • Sawmill Timber and Process Optimisation

Work has begun on two new projects in the timber sawmilling sector. An initial Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) teleconference was held on Monday 27th August to discuss the project details, the composition of the TAC for the two projects, project timelines and schedule of work. Participants also provided some initial feedback on the training package components for review as part of these projects.

Training package components will be reviewed, developed and drafted in consultation with the TAC and their networks and through stakeholder input, which is welcome at any time during the duration of this project.

We will keep you informed of project updates and consultation opportunities via this newsletter and the project web pages.

Completed Project

  • Pulp and Paper Manufacturing Safety Compliance

The PPM IRC has signed off the Case for Endorsement after the project documents were reviewed and endorsed by State and Territory Training Authorities.

The Case for Endorsement provides information about what changes have been made to the training package components for consideration and approval by the Australian Industry and Skills Committee (AISC). The project documents will be submitted to the AISC.
